Diana from the Kyiv region learned about her diagnosis in 2023 – type 1 diabetes, insulin-dependent. It all started with feeling unwell, which the woman did not pay attention to for a long time, and then – an ambulance, treatment in a hospital, acceptance. She is still learning to accept this new condition, calculate her medication and dosage based on the food she eats. The most important thing for her is her health and maintaining it, because she has someone to live for and care for. Diana has a son, Mykhailo, who was diagnosed with autism at the age of 4. He has difficulty pronouncing words, is very picky about food, and often gets nervous. His mother tries to teach him to be independent and self-sufficient, to read and write.
A big problem for the mother and son is the lack of support, as they live alone in a village. But they also understand that they need to move towards the light and not lose heart, because in addition to diabetes, Diana has chronic pancreatitis, which causes severe pain. However, Mykhailo's mother is the only close person who can prepare him for life in the adult world. The boy loves his mother very much, and despite everything, they cling to life with all their might, want to live, and believe that human kindness transcends time and circumstances. Special sensors for monitoring sugar levels would help to better control diabetes and make Diana's life easier.
