The girl needs to have her eye lenses replaced
Vlada was born at 42 weeks pregnant. During childbirth, due to lack of oxygen in the child, the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain were severely damaged. As a result, the child developed hydrocephalus. This contributed to the delay in psycho-speech development and the development of autism. Ptosis of the upper right eyelid – the child's eye almost did not open at birth. The baby learned to sit on her own at 1 year 2 months, and began to walk at two and a half years.
In 2013, in OKHMATDYT, Vlada underwent surgery on his right eyelid (ptosis) and until 2018 the child had no eye problems. "We were constantly undergoing treatment by a neurologist and a psychiatrist", writes Yana, the girl’s mother, "so that the child’s nervous system and psyche would improve at least a little". Vlada periodically closed in on herself, lived completely in her own world, then suddenly became very aggressive: she screamed, bit, beat herself and those around her.
In December 2018, the girl was diagnosed with powdery cataracts in both eyes. Then, in the Zaporizhia Regional Children's Hospital, Vlada had a lens removed in one eye. A month later, the lens was removed in the second eye. "We were promised, that in a year a device will appear in the hospital to put artificial lenses, and they will be placed to us for little money. But the device was never installed in the hospital. Vlada does not want to wear glasses". The lenses in glasses are almost 1 cm thick, and although they are plastic, they are uncomfortable and heavy for the girl, and without them she can hardly see anything...
In March of this year, Vlada and her mother came for a consultation in the capital OKHMATDYT. The specialists of the ophthalmological department promised to install new lenses for the girl, but the sums are too much for Vlada's mother. The woman is raising her daughter alone. The child's father died when Vlada was almost four years old. The family receives a survivor's pension, a disability pension and a care allowance.
"But these are very small means", says Yana, "since we are treated a lot. Vlada needs constant neurological and psychiatric medications. Vlada is my only child. Despite all this, she loves to play with children, listen to music, dance, and also loves cartoons about the little princess. At 11, she doesn’t speak, but she communicates very well with gestures".
