A girl with diabetes needs help
At the age of 2, Liza was admitted to the intensive care unit in a near coma. Doctors diagnosed her with type 1 diabetes, severe form. After a few days in the intensive care unit and a month in the hospital, the mother and daughter were discharged home. The family began to learn to live again. After all, diabetes means constant blood glucose measurements (sometimes up to 10 times a day), insulin injections, and carbohydrate counting.
Over time, due to the severe course of the disease, several other diagnoses were added. When Liza was 7 years old, she used Libre glucose monitoring for the first time. It made the child's life much easier! Instead of many finger punctures, the sensor is installed only once every 14 days. Currently, Liza uses the Libre2 sensor. This sensor not only shows the glucose level, but also warns of low sugar. This is very important for a person with diabetes and can save lives!
Liza has always studied at school full-time, which made it very uncomfortable for her to give herself insulin injections. The compensation for this was very unsatisfactory, and in 2020 the family purchased an insulin pump. Over time, the compensation for diabetes became optimal and remains so.
To maintain her life and health, Lisa has to use a glucose monitoring sensor that changes every 14 days and an insulin pump. The cannula for the pump is changed every 72 hours. The family buys all consumables on their own, the state provides only insulin.
Since the beginning of the full-scale war, Liza's mother has lost her job and is forced to stay at home. Her children have only online education, and her youngest daughter Katia is very afraid to stay home alone.
Liza is almost 14 years old, a very gifted and energetic child. She draws well, plays basketball, learns Japanese, sings, and is successful in her studies. The girl needs sensors and consumables for a pump, which the family is no longer able to buy on their own.
