Today Viktoriia is a sixth-grade student. She leads an active life, never gives up, and proves every day that it is possible to live fully with diabetes.
She was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when she was just 4 years old. The first symptoms were alarming: intense thirst, increased appetite, rapid weight loss, and nighttime bedwetting. After Viktoriia's hospitalization, the family had to learn to live in a new way. Those were frightening times. Her parents were confused and scared, as it seemed at the time that their normal life had come to an end.
And so a new chapter began – a daily struggle and constant monitoring. Endless blood sugar checks, injections, fear, and the tears of a little child who could not understand why this had happened to her.
Vika endured the most difficult first years and eventually started first grade. Despite her young age, she was not embarrassed to check her blood sugar and administer insulin injections right at school. When her classmates asked what it was, Viktoriia calmly explained. That is how she gained the support of her friends and the understanding of her teachers.
Viktoriia now needs continuous glucose monitoring sensors to reduce the daily burden and give her little fingers a rest from the countless pricks.
Help Viktoriia live without constant pain!
