Compassion wins leukemia
UPD: Ministry of Health of Ukraine has allocated funds to pay for surgery for Anna. "I made plans for the future, with my loved ones dreamed of playing a wedding and giving birth to twins. I have never been serious health problems. Colleagues are accustomed to seeing me smiling and cheerful. But one day I felt weak, dizzy. I went to the doctor. The diagnosis sounded like a verdict – acute leukemia. I initially refused to believe, then a week could not move away from the shock, it seemed that – the end.
Family, friends, and colleagues saved depression. I decided that I had no right to fail them, that I would fight for my life to the last. I went through several courses of chemotherapy. After the treatment, I suffered infernal pain all over my body, resigned myself to the loss of hair. But, unfortunately, the disease has returned and is now progressing. Chemotherapy does not help anymore. The only chance for life is a bone marrow transplant from an unrelated donor. In Ukraine, such operations are not done.
To do the transplant agreed in the Turkish clinic. The cost is 70 000 dollars (more than 2 million UAH). For me and my family, this is a "space" sum. All savings have already been spent on the previous course of treatment. Time is short. Every time I think about the necessary amount, I can not hold back tears. I always believed that human life is priceless. But on my life now, as a stigma, hung a price tag – 2 million UAH. However, I believe that there will be people who are not indifferent to someone else's grief, and the necessary amount will be typed.
After recovery, I dream to help people who are sick with oncology. I plan to do everything in my power to make a bone marrow transplant from an unrelated donor started in Ukraine. I understand that it's not just about hundreds of lives – it's about someone's daughter, mother, wife".
Now Anna expects payment of bone marrow transplantation from the Ministry of Health, and therefore the funds collected at the UBB will be used for examination in the Turkish clinic.
