Help for two young hearts

      Bogdan and Sofia from Odesa are brother and sister. The girl has undergone two heart operations, whilst the boy was unable to start Year 1 because of bronchial asthma. They need medication to support Sofia’s heart and to help Bogdan breathe more easily.
      In accordance with Cooperation Agreement No. 21 between the International Charitable Foundation ‘Ukrainian Charity Exchange’ and the charitable aid operator, the Charitable Foundation ‘POMAGAEM’, dated 31 August 2020, and Supplementary Agreement No. 21. 390 of 30 July 2026, the project ‘Help for Two Hearts’ was launched on the website of the International Charitable Foundation ‘Ukrainian Charity Exchange’ – dobro.ua – with the aim of raising funds to cover the medical treatment costs for Sofiia Petrova and Bohdan Petrov.
      During the fundraising campaign, it became necessary to use part of the funds raised on the website of the Charitable Organisation of the International Charitable Foundation ‘Ukrainian Charity Exchange’ – dobro.ua – to purchase medicines for the children. Therefore, in accordance with letter No. 328 dated 3 August 2026, we received the raised sum of 51,558.00 UAH (fifty-one thousand five hundred and fifty-eight hryvnias, 00 kopecks) into the Fund’s account and continued the fundraising campaign on the dobro.ua platform.
      On 17 September 2026, thanks to the donors of the Ukrainian Charity Exchange, who brought Sofia and Bohdan’s fundraising campaign to a close, we received a further 53,684.00 UAH (fifty-three thousand six hundred and eighty-four hryvnias, 00 kopecks) into the Fund’s current account to cover the children’s medical treatment and project administration costs.
      The funds received enabled us, in August of this year, to purchase and provide Sofia and Bohdan with the necessary medicines totalling 23,219.40 UAH (twenty-three thousand two hundred and nineteen hryvnias, 40 kopecks). In September, essential medicines totalling 15,000.00 UAH (fifteen thousand hryvnias, 00 kopecks) were also purchased and provided for the children.
      Thanks to the assistance received, Bohdanchik began treatment against the allergens that trigger his bronchial asthma. His condition has improved significantly as a result of the treatment.
      Sofia continues to take the necessary medication to support her heart function, as well as vitamins, which help her cope better with colds. Recently, she also received her first-ever vaccination against pneumococcal infection, which she tolerated well.
      The children are close in age, so they are often mistaken for twins. They are very close and complement each other well: Bohdanchik enjoys arts and crafts and loves modelling clay, whilst Sofiika is a brilliant artist.
      The family is sincerely grateful to everyone who is helping the children, which brings them a sense of peace and hope.
We plan to use the remaining funds, amounting to 67,022.60 UAH (sixty-seven thousand twenty-two hryvnias, 60 kopecks), to meet the children’s needs in October 2026.
