Veronika is a cheerful, energetic, and friendly girl. She loves playing with other children, and is also passionate about drawing and sculpting various animals from modeling clay. She enjoys riding her bike and scooter, spending time outdoors, and playing in the sandpit. At five years old, she happily helps her mother in the kitchen and around the house. The family lives in a village and keeps chickens and rabbits, and Veronichka helps to look after them. The girl has a pet dog named Zhulka, with whom she has grown up together. Veronika spends most of her time with her mother, as her father works far from home and only comes back at weekends – which his daughter eagerly awaits, as she misses him dearly.
For almost two years, Veronika has been living with type 1 diabetes. It is a serious and insidious disease, as failing to monitor blood sugar levels leads to complications.
Veronika started attending kindergarten in September, but because of her illness she cannot be at kindergarten independently, measure her own blood sugar, or administer insulin injections. That is why she attends kindergarten together with her mother.
Continuous monitoring sensors help keep blood sugar under control and avoid up to 15 finger pricks per day. They significantly ease life with diabetes and help track blood sugar levels 24/7, which is very important. However, their high cost makes them inaccessible for Veronichka's family in their current financial circumstances.
For this reason, the parents are reaching out to caring people with a request for help in raising funds to provide their daughter with continuous monitoring sensors.
