Zaporizhzhia is an island of hope for those who fled the war from Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, and Kherson regions. It is a place of refuge for those whose homes, lives and everything they had accumulated over the years were destroyed in a single moment with the arrival of Russian troops. People are fleeing with small children, pregnant women are risking their lives to get to the Ukrainian territory, and all of them need quality medical care. The Zaporizhzhia Regional Clinical Children's Hospital* is open around the clock. It is here to save wounded, sick and newborn children. We are going to help the latter. The goal of this project is to purchase a blood gas analyzer for the hospital, which will help provide quality medical care to newborns in the intensive care unit.

Currently, the hospital does not have a blood gas analyzer, and this makes it very difficult to provide care to babies who have just been born. What is it for? It's very simple: it is a highly effective device for conducting research in intensive care units. The analyzer allows you to perform a full range of tests: blood gases, electrolytes, glucose, and lactate. The results of electrolyte and blood gas analysis can be obtained in less than 2 minutes.

The device is indispensable in emergency rooms for quick diagnosis of the severity of patients' condition. In the intensive care unit, it is necessary to help the child breathe properly, and for this purpose, an oxygen mask is put on the baby immediately after birth. It is very important to dose the substance correctly, because a lack or excess of oxygen in the child's body causes complications. How much oxygen is needed is determined by special measurements. To determine the intensity of therapy, oxygen supply, and duration of treatment, a blood gas analyzer should be used – it allows you to perform a wide range of comprehensive blood tests and provides accurate results.

The portable and mobile blood gas analyzer GEM Premier 3500, which we dream of purchasing, does not require space in a centralized laboratory and can also be used directly at the patient's bedside. And thanks to the use of multifunctional cartridges that include all consumables, the GEM Premier 3500 does not require maintenance and replacement of electrodes, solutions, waste containers and gas cylinders. This is not every intensive care physician's dream.

This is exactly the kind of modern blood gas analyzer, along with a set of card readers, that we aim to purchase as part of this charity project. And we are counting on your help and support.
