Help Natasha walk

      Natalochka was born at 27 weeks’ gestation, weighing just 1,060 g. After her birth, she was diagnosed with hydrocephalus and purulent meningitis. Due to her low birth weight, a shunt could not be fitted, so the baby underwent more than 35 lumbar punctures to drain the excess fluid before a shunt could be fitted. The girl currently has spastic diplegia and paralytic dislocation of the hip joints — she is in pain and finds it difficult to stand; she is unable to walk unaided.
      In accordance with Cooperation Agreement No. 21 between the International Charitable Foundation ‘Ukrainian Charity Exchange’ and the charitable aid operator, the Charitable Foundation ‘POMAGAEM’, dated 31 August 2020, and Supplementary Agreement No. 21. 368 of 1 May 2026, the project ‘Let’s Help Natasha Walk’ was published on the website of the International Charitable Foundation ‘Ukrainian Charity Exchange’ (UCE) – dobro.ua – with the aim of raising donations to cover the cost of Natalia Akimova’s treatment.
      The initial target amount for the project was 54,075.00 UAH (fifty-four thousand and seventy-five hryvnias, 00 kopecks). Once the full amount required to cover Natasha’s treatment had been raised on the two fundraising platforms – the Ukrainian Charity Exchange and the ‘Pomagayem’ Charitable Foundation – we requested that the fundraising campaign be closed, that the target amount on the Ukrainian Charity Exchange be reduced to the amount actually raised – 18,853.00 UAH (eighteen thousand eight hundred and fifty-three hryvnias, 00 kopecks) – and to transfer the funds to our current account to cover the cost of the girl’s treatment and project administration, in accordance with letter No. 189 dated 6 May 2026.
      In June of this year, thanks to the funds received, we paid for Natalochka’s surgical procedure, which cost a total of 18,853.00 UAH (eighteen thousand eight hundred and fifty-three hryvnias, 00 kopecks), and also covered the project administration costs.
      Following the operation, which lasted over four hours and took place on 19 June, the child’s plaster cast was recently removed. Natasha is currently continuing her recovery, whilst doctors are monitoring the condition of her leg and its progress. So far, the leg has not settled into the expected position, so the family plans to attend a follow-up consultation in September–October to assess the outcome of the operation with the doctor and determine the next steps. Her mum also wishes to seek a second opinion from another specialist regarding possible options for further treatment.
      For the time being, the child is under her family’s care and is gradually recovering. She can stand on her right leg unaided, but is not yet able to stand on her left leg. Her mother notes that it is currently important to give the child time to recover and to monitor her progress, and then to determine the next course of treatment together with the doctors.
      We apologise for the delay in preparing this report, which was due to complex force majeure circumstances affecting the manager responsible for reporting and the inability to find a replacement for that staff member.
At present, all funds transferred from the Ukrainian Charity Exchange have been spent on the girl’s needs.
