The first six and a half months of Zlata's life were no different from other children's stories. She grew, smiled, and delighted her parents with each new day. But suddenly everything changed: high fever, terrible convulsions, a rush to the hospital. The diagnosis was meningoencephalitis, with a 50/50 chance of survival. Every minute was a struggle for life, every breath could be her last.
Zlata survived. But the disease left a cruel mark: hemiparesis, weakness on the left side of her body, symptomatic epilepsy. Since then, years of constant rehabilitation, pain, and fear began. What is normal for other children is the result of incredible effort for Zlata.
Today, the girl is 8 years old. Thanks to dozens of rehabilitation courses, she has begun to walk better, the spasticity in her left leg and arm has decreased, her balance has improved, and she has learned to squeeze ball with her left hand and transfer them to her right hand. There have also been intellectual improvements: Zlata speaks more new words and follows instructions and requests better. Despite this, Zlata has difficulty writing and learning numbers and letters. She still finds it difficult to maintain balance and coordinate her movements. Every lesson and every exercise is a daily task that never stops.
Over the years, the family has done everything possible and even more to help their daughter. They have undergone dozens of rehabilitation courses and spent all their resources. Today, they are financially exhausted and can no longer afford the vital treatment on their own. Stopping now would mean losing everything that Zlata has fought for over the years. That is why we are starting a fundraiser to continue the girl's rehabilitation. Every hryvnia you donate is a chance for the girl to keep moving forward, maintain her achievements, and take her long-awaited independent steps.
