Denys was born prematurely at 26 weeks of pregnancy, weighing only 900 grams. His life began with a struggle. His little heart beat against all odds, and every day in intensive care was a test for the whole family.

At 18 months, doctors diagnosed the boy with cerebral palsy and bilateral sensorineural hearing loss of IV-V degree. The world was quiet and difficult for Denys. Thanks to a cochlear implant, he heard his first sounds. It was a moment that cannot be put into words. He began to respond to his mother's voice, began to understand what was said to him, began to answer questions and form simple sentences. Behind this lies the tremendous work of speech therapists, defectologists, deaf educators, and daily persistent rehabilitation.

Daily physical therapy sessions, massages, acupuncture, swimming, and hippotherapy yielded results. At three years old, Denys learned to sit; at three and a half, he learned to stand with support; at four years and four months, he took his first steps with a walker. Today, after another course of rehabilitation, he can already stand and walk independently with four-point crutches. Behind each of these achievements are pain, tears, and the incredible strength of a little boy.

"Our biggest dream is to teach Denys to walk independently. To run. To play with other children. To live a full childhood life. We are moving step by step towards this goal and believe in our son. But without support, this journey may come to a halt. The new rehabilitation course requires funds that are extremely difficult for us to raise on our own," says Denys's mother.
