Davyd and Violetta are brother and sister from the village of Vilne, Dnipropetrovsk region. Both have serious diagnoses, and regular rehabilitation is extremely important for them. Each course is an opportunity to maintain skills and develop them, step by step. In January, Davyd and Violetta will again be welcomed by specialists from the St. John's Center.
Davyd is 17 years old. He is kind, attentive and hardworking. The guy loves to pick mushrooms, fish, and treats his family and neighbors with his catch. He is a second-year student at the Technological College of Dnipropetrovsk State Agrarian and Economic University, where he is studying to become a technologist. Davyd dreams of opening his own smoked fish production.
His health problems began at the age of six: he had leg pain and fatigue. In 2019, his mother noticed that his son's right foot was shorter than his left. It turned out that he had a shortened Achilles tendon. The operation only worsened the situation: Davyd constantly stumbled and fell.
Only a comprehensive examination allowed him to establish an accurate diagnosis – hereditary polyneuropathy. There is no specific treatment, only rehabilitation helps slow down the progression of the disease. Last year, thanks to classes at the St. John's Center, Davyd learned to walk correctly.
Violetta is 14 years old. She loves to draw, sculpt and sculpt from purple clay. The girl is studying in the 5th grade according to an individual program. She understands spoken language and speaks in phrases.
At the age of one month, Violetta was diagnosed with congenital glaucoma in both eyes. Four operations helped to preserve the vision of only the left eye. Later, doctors diagnosed severe mental retardation, foot deformity and scoliosis.
The January rehabilitation course at the St. John's Center will help Davyd improve coordination and balance, maintain proper walking skills. And Violetta – strengthen muscles, correct posture disorders and stop the progression of scoliosis.
Friends, please support Davyd and Violetta. Every hryvnia of yours is their opportunity to move forward!
