Research that saves babies' lives

Premature babies are a special category: they are very tiny and weak, their body functions are still immature. A child born weighing less than 1500 grams faces problems with the respiratory, cardiovascular, digestive and nervous systems. Born earlier than 32 weeks, premature babies may not always be able to take their first breath on their own.

The lives of these children are completely dependent on modern medical equipment.

To help the child breathe fully, immediately after birth, he is put on an oxygen mask – it is very important to correctly dose the substance, because a lack or excess of oxygen in the child's body causes complications. How much oxygen is required is determined by special measurements. To prescribe the intensity of therapy, oxygen supply and the duration of treatment, it is necessary to use a blood gas analyzer - it allows you to perform a wide range of comprehensive blood tests and gives accurate results.

We acquired such a gas analyzer EasyStat Analyzer together with donors within the framework of the project at dobro.ua. But consumables for it – special disposable cartridges need to be purchased. Government funding is insufficient to meet this need. And we appeal to all who are not indifferent with a request to help us purchase reagent blocks (cartridges) for the department of prematurely born children of the Odessa Regional Clinical Hospital.
