Mykyta's long struggle
Tiny Nikita was born in the 30th week with a weight of 1450 g. The baby did not breathe, so immediately after giving birth he was taken to the intensive care unit under a ventilator, where he spent a whole week. After that, he was transferred to the neonatal pathology department. Then the boy was diagnosed with congenital pneumonia, hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy and bilateral cerebral hemorrhage – a stroke...
After being discharged, during the first examination of the newborn in the regional hospital, the mother was stunned by the new diagnoses of her son. The boy was diagnosed with cardiac arrhythmias, perventicular leukomalacia (a form of lesion of the white matter of the cerebral hemispheres) and a number of concomitant diseases. And when Nikita was one year old, cerebral palsy was added to his diagnoses.
Every 1.5 months Nikita has been diligently undergoing rehabilitation courses and medication, and for three years now he has been fighting cerebral palsy. During this time, the boy learned to hold his head, roll over, crawl on his bellies, sit on his knees and with support on outstretched arms, play with toys. Nikita knows and names all parts of the body, speaks and repeats different words, he eats with a spoon.
In order not to lose these skills, Nikita needs systematic rehabilitation. It is a pity, but the family does not have funds for permanent treatment. In order for the boy to be able to get on a new rehabilitation course, we need your support! Help Nikita in his fight against the disease!
