Hearts Charity Evening 2019

Hearts Charity Evening is a charity evening that has been supports the development of ecovascular medicine in Ukraine and raises funds for endovascular surgery for children with various degrees of heart disease. The mission of the charity project is to provide access to endovascular implants to all children with heart defects who need such an operation.

For three years held 3 charity event. The total amount of the raised funds – UAH 7 087 282, operated – 92 children:

2016 – 510 410 UAH 6 children
2017 – 2 393 306 UAH 32 children
2018 – 4 183 566 UAH 52 children

Treatment of congenital heart defects by carrying out endovascular surgery allows saving little hearts without surgical incisions that facilitate a rapid return of the child to normal life the next day after surgery. The practice of setting of occluders in the world circulated for over two decades. But in our country there are specialists who are able to conduct such operations. Such operations were first performed at the National Institute of cardiovascular surgery named Amosov Professor by Panichkina V. they Are now.

The only "disadvantage" of endovascular treatment in Ukrainian reality is the cost of implants. Price, depending on the type of implant varies from 30 thousand to 100 thousand hryvnias. The vast majority of Ukrainian families cannot afford to purchase them. And the state, in turn, buys the occluders in sufficient quantity. So parents have or seek benefactors, or to abandon the operation.

We help children whose parents can't afford expensive implants. All parents provide documents confirming the necessity of the procedure and income. We are talking about children from poor families with congenital heart defects. The applications come from different parts of the country and try to cover all of Ukraine, without ignoring the kids from orphanages, distant villages, mountains and uncontrolled territories of Ukraine.

2017-2018 we have carried out work on the inclusion endovascularly operations in the state target program in 2018. Designed with expert medical professionals and relevant ministries separate budget program "Healthy heart without scars". Due to our efforts and budget developed the program "Healthy heart without scars" for the first time in the history of independent Ukraine in the budget for 2019 allocated 70 000 000 UAH for the purchase of occluders.

This is a partial solution to the problem. Since purchased occluders will last until the end of August. In September, families will be seeking funds to save the lives of their children. We make every effort to ensure that the program was adopted by 100% in the near future. We don't stop!
