Eight-year-old Andriy is a sweet, purposeful boy who is actively involved in sports and has a desire to be a healthy, strong and successful person. The boy was struck by a disease called diabetes just before the full-scale invasion began. It was then, at the age of five, that Andriy ended up in intensive care. 3 From that moment, Andriy’s family’s life changed forever...
Monitoring his diet and blood sugar levels, annual check-ups at regional clinics became the norm for the family. The family suffered an even stronger blow with the start of the full-scale invasion. Andriy had to leave his hometown through the "green corridor" under the sights of russian machine guns. The horror that the child, who absolutely cannot be stressed, experienced at that moment cannot be expressed in words.
Thanks to his mother’s constant care, Andriy manages to continue living, studying and playing sports in a new city for the family. But it is very difficult to do this – the fragile balance is held on the shoulders of the mother, who takes care of her son around the clock, and the sensors for continuous sugar monitoring – extremely necessary, but unspeakably expensive devices. In this difficult time, the family barely has enough money to pay for rented housing and food, because their home has been under occupation for more than three years.
