Meals for evacuees

Since April 2023, the forced evacuation of families in difficult life circumstances from the frontline communities of Donetsk region to Zhytomyr region has been ongoing. Evacuation trains arrive at the railway station in Berdychiv for further placement of people in the integrated living centers (ILCs) of Zhytomyr region communities. In just seven months of 2023, Berdychiv railway station received 32 evacuation trains from the city of Pokrovsk, during which 570 internally displaced persons, including 160 children, arrived. As of the beginning of November 2023, 450 people are living in places of integrated residence in Zhytomyr region, and another 120 people have found accommodation.

The social specialists of Caritas Berdychiv UGCC are actively involved in providing emergency humanitarian and psychological assistance to the evacuees. Thus, for seven months of 2023, the foundation's specialists have been providing evacuees at the Berdychiv railway station with hot meals, drinks and sweets. During this time, we were able to provide 640 meals.

As Russia's invasion of Ukraine continues to deepen the humanitarian crisis, we are looking for resources to continue feeding the evacuees arriving in Zhytomyr region. Therefore, we need your help to buy food for complex meals, which includes a side dish, a meat dish, a roll with sliced meat, tea/coffee and cookies.

Currently, we are raising UAH 40,000 on dobro.ua to meet, feed and provide emergency assistance for 20 more evacuation flights from Donetsk region. Please help us with this!
