25 children from families in difficult life circumstances in the Kamianets-Podilskyi community need backpacks with basic school supplies. For their parents, this is not just a purchase, but a difficult choice between medicine, food, utility bills, and preparing a child for school. We aim to raise funds to provide these children with essential items and give them the opportunity to start the school year on equal terms with their peers.
12-year-old Bohdana moved with her mother Maryna as an internally displaced person. Maryna is raising her daughter alone. Bohdana has cerebral palsy, right-sided hemiparesis, and motor disinhibition, which complicate her daily life and learning. Every day for this family is a balance between basic needs: medication, rehabilitation, and food. There are simply no resources left for a new backpack or school supplies. And there are dozens of such stories.
The foundation’s social workers see children every day who are trying to learn but are forced to get by with very little: borrowing pens, carrying textbooks in plastic bags, or using old items that have long lost their appearance and functionality.
A backpack with supplies is more than just things. It is about dignity, confidence, and an equal start. It is about a child opening their backpack without fear or shame. We are already supporting these families through social services and psychological assistance. But now we want to take one more step – to give children a sense of equality.
