Zhenia from Kharkiv needs nutrition

      Zhenya was born at 32 weeks’ gestation, weighing just 1,740 g. She spent the first four months of her life in the neonatal intensive care unit. She began having seizures at one month old, but was only diagnosed with epilepsy at six months following an examination at the Regional Perinatal Centre. 
      In accordance with Cooperation Agreement No. 21 between the International Charitable Foundation ‘Ukrainian Charity Exchange’ and the charitable aid operator, the Charitable Foundation ‘POMAGAYEM’, dated 31 August 2020, and Supplementary Agreement No. 21. 326 of 29 July 2025, the project ‘Kharkiv resident Zhenya needs food’ was posted on the website dobro.ua with the aim of raising donations to cover the cost of Yevheniia Lepetailo’s treatment.
      During the fundraising campaign, it became necessary to use part of the funds raised on the website of the Charitable Organisation International Charitable Foundation ‘Ukrainian Charity Exchange’ – dobro.ua – to purchase special dietary food for the girl. Therefore, in accordance with letters No. 402 dated 5 August 2025 and No. 573 dated 4 November 2025, we received the raised amounts of 10,400.00 UAH (ten thousand four hundred hryvnias, 00 kopecks) and 16,800.00 UAH (sixteen thousand eight hundred hryvnias, 00 kopecks) into the Fund’s account and continued the fundraising on the dobro.ua platform. 
      The initial target amount for the project was 59,431.00 UAH (fifty-nine thousand four hundred and thirty-one hryvnias, 00 kopecks). Once the full amount required to cover Yevheniia’s treatment had been raised on the two fundraising platforms: the Ukrainian Charity Exchange and the Pomahayem Charitable Foundation, we requested that the fundraising campaign be closed, that the project amount on the UBB be reduced to the amount actually raised – 35,881.00 UAH (thirty-five thousand eight hundred and eighty-one hryvnias, 00 kopecks), and to transfer the remaining funds – 8,681.00 UAH (eight thousand six hundred and eighty-one hryvnias, 00 kopecks) – to cover the girl’s treatment and project administration, in accordance with letter No. 73 dated 16 February 2026.
In August 2025, we purchased special dietary food for Yevheniia to the value of 10,400.00 UAH (ten thousand four hundred hryvnias, 00 kopecks), and in November – to the value of 8,738.00 UAH (eight thousand seven hundred and thirty-eight hryvnias, 00 kopecks). In February 2026, we also supported the girl with special food to the tune of 9,634.00 UAH (nine thousand six hundred and thirty-four hryvnias, 00 kopecks).
      Earlier this year, Zhenya underwent a Microarray genetic analysis, the results of which revealed no mutations. However, her parents, together with the doctors, continue to seek an explanation for the symptoms she is experiencing. To definitively rule out genetic causes, genomic testing is required, but the family currently lacks the funds for this procedure.
      Recently, Yevgeniya underwent rehabilitation at the ‘Hippocrates’ centre and took part in a recovery programme in the neurology department following the adjustment of her individual rehabilitation programme. Unfortunately, due to illness (otitis and bronchitis), these courses had to be cut short. However, thanks to a specialised diet, the child’s body has grown stronger, which has helped her recover more quickly and fight off viruses more effectively.
      Zhenya currently attends regular sessions with a neuro-speech therapist and a reflexologist, maintaining a relatively stable condition, although minor emotional fluctuations are occasionally noticeable. The family sincerely thanks everyone for their help and for providing Zhenya with a lactose-free diet.
      We plan to use the remaining unused funds of 7,109.00 UAH (seven thousand one hundred and nine hryvnias, 00 kopecks) to meet Zhenya’s needs in 2026.
