Oleksandr and Oksana Veremii are a couple in wheelchairs; each of them most values the other’s life and health. She is disabled since childhood due to arthrogryposis, underdevelopment of the skeleton. He has been in a wheelchair since age 25 when a spinal stroke paralyzed his legs. Each of them had endured difficult treatment and social rehabilitation and overcame psychological barriers, but meeting each other finally became their salvation.

Oksana and Oleksandr met while studying at a rehabilitation center of the city of Liutizh in the Kyiv region, to which each came hoping for a full life. Their love began there and became a fresh breath giving their lives a sense of purpose and dreams of a happy future. An independent family full of mutual care and help, support, understanding, and love, that's what they have, the most valuable thing! For twelve years they were together through difficulties and obstacles. It seemed that all horrors, doubts, uncertainties were behind them, but the fate is merciless…

In late April, Oleksandr was taken to the hospital, where specialists diagnosed dilated esophageal varicose veins due to liver failure. This condition was mostly the result of long-term drug therapy, without which his life with disabilities would have been simply impossible. He had been diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis and cirrhosis five years earlier, but with prescribed therapy, over the last year, his health had improved significantly. Then the trouble came on suddenly!

After a week in the intensive care unit of the Kiev City Hospital No. 8, doctors managed to stabilize Oleksandr, but the test results are grim. His liver is considered nonviable because of a tumor. According to the doctors of the Shalimov Institute, the only thing that can save the life of Oleksandr is a liver transplant. It is impossible to do such an operation in Ukraine, his life can only be saved abroad. And while Sasha is ready and waiting for surgery, he needs medication. Now every minute is important, so we opened the collection of money for medicines for Oleksandr.

This young 40-year-old man is on the verge of death! Previously we know that a liver transplant in Belarus cost $150 000, but that is a huge amount of the family and friends of Oleksandr, so today they badly need the help of caring hearts.

Even a small contribution to this good cause might give him a chance to live!
