The disease began to cause complications

Twelve-year-old Mariika and her mother are displaced persons from Severodonetsk. They lived under shelling for a month, in constant fear. Then, after evacuating to the Rivne region, they lived in a school for visually impaired children for about a year. Mariika's only comfort at that time was their cat Leo, whom she loved very much. Unfortunately, he fell ill and died in her arms... She cried for a long time and was very sad.
When life in Rivne began to gradually improve – school, aerial gymnastics training, new friends – Mariika suddenly felt ill. She had constant thirst, frequent trips to the toilet, and chest pains. Tests showed very high sugar levels, and doctors made a terrible diagnosis – type 1 diabetes.
Now she has to prick her fingers more than 10 times a day. Her sugar levels fluctuate, and Mariika and her mother live in constant fear for her condition. The girl has been ill for a year, and the disease has already begun to cause complications. The family cannot afford to buy everything they need on their own – it is very difficult financially. Mariika desperately needs sensors for continuous glucose monitoring and needles for syringe pens – this will help Mariyka study, play sports, and simply live without the constant pain of pricks.
Mariika dreams of returning home and holding her warm, fluffy cat in her arms again. We sincerely hope that kind hearts will help make her life safer and a little happier.
