Viktoria is now 8 years old and has been suffering from type 1 diabetes for four of them. The disease came as a big shock to her mother, as she has been suffering from diabetes for 27 years. However, it was very difficult to accept. At birth, Viktoria was checked for hereditary diseases, screened and examined, and the child was absolutely healthy. Until she was 4 years old, the girl had no symptoms until she contracted a viral infection.
After that, Vika began to lose weight before our eyes, and she became constantly thirsty and irritable. Her mother immediately realized what it was, but of course, she wanted to believe it was a mistake. A blood sugar test left no doubt that it was diabetes. This terrible number 18... The woman could barely pull herself together, knowing that this was for life. That her daughter would have to grow up earlier and learn to control her condition at all times.
Viktoria loves to socialize. She enjoys meeting other children, going to the 2nd grade and attending clubs. It is difficult for her to constantly monitor her sugar with a glucose meter – she is shy about measuring in front of her classmates. She has to pierce her fingers 15-20 times a day, and it is especially difficult at night when she cannot feel her sugar level. Her mother cannot provide Vika with monitoring sensors, which help to control blood glucose levels, because she is unable to work due to her health condition and the need to take care of her daughter. Her mother's diabetes has led to many complications – she has had ophthalmic surgeries, her thyroid gland and kidney removed. The woman realizes that the only chance for her daughter to stay healthy is to compensate Viktoria for the severe consequences of diabetes in time. But she lives alone, without a husband. It is clear that she cannot support herself and her daughter and provide proper treatment. Therefore, she hopes for our help in purchasing the sensors.
