Veronika is growing up to be a very kind, intelligent and creative girl. She does well at school, loves to read and especially loves adventure books. Her best friend, the ginger cat Simba, whom she loves very much, is always waiting for her at home.
Veronika's life story with diabetes began when she was only two years old. Yesterday she was a lively, inquisitive and smiling girl, and within a few days she became lethargic and very weak. Her parents immediately went to the doctors and the words "type 1 diabetes" sounded like thunder out of the blue. From that day on, the family's life changed forever.
Every day they learn to live with this disease. Diabetes has no days off or holidays – sugar level control is needed constantly. Previously, this meant dozens of painful punctures of little fingers every day. For the child, this is not only physical pain, but also great psychological stress, because she just wants to live like all children.
Now Veronika uses an insulin pump, which helps control the administration of insulin. But for full control of the disease, continuous glucose monitoring sensors are very necessary. They allow you to track your sugar level in real time without constant finger pricks, and also allow parents to see the child’s indicators remotely. This is extremely important for the girl, because sharp fluctuations in sugar levels can lead to dangerous complications – diabetic ketoacidosis or even coma. The sensors help to notice the danger in time and react.
Veronika is the only child in the family, a long-awaited and infinitely beloved daughter. Her parents do everything possible to ensure that she grows up happy and can live a full life, like her peers. But the constant costs of treatment and consumables are a very big burden for them. The parents are asking for help and sincerely asking to support their daughter in purchasing sensors for continuous glucose monitoring. For Veronika, this is an opportunity to feel less pain, enjoy childhood more, and live with diabetes more safely.
