Iryna is 18 years old and the eldest daughter in the family. It seems that at this age the whole world lies open before you. Plans for studies, first adult dreams, boundless energy. Ira thought so too – until type 1 diabetes entered her life uninvited. Suddenly came the realization that life now depends on the numbers on a glucometer screen and every unit of insulin administered.
In a single night, Ira transformed from a teenager into a person who counts every gram of food like a mathematical formula for survival. Her life changed. From that moment on, every day is governed by a schedule of blood sugar checks and insulin injections. Adolescent spontaneity gave way to constant monitoring and responsibility.
Her parents were in despair, and a silent question arose: "Why?". They know diabetes well – for eight years they have already been walking this path with Ira's younger sister.
Diabetes is a disease that knows no weekends or holidays. But it has another side that is not often spoken about openly – its cost. When a family has two children on insulin, financial resources run out faster than strength. Modern sensors that allow one to avoid 15 finger pricks per day, quality consumables, and health support – these are figures the family can no longer cover on their own.
Your help is not simply financial support and ensuring continuous monitoring for Iryna – it is peace of mind for the whole family. For Ira, it is the chance to finish her studies and live without fear of complications; for the family, it is reduced anxiety and a sense of relief. Even a small contribution gives one more day of peace, one more smile, one more opportunity to live an ordinary life.
