Technology literacy for grandparents

At the Charitable Foundation “Caritas of Kolomyia-Chernivtsi Eparchy” there has been functioning “The University of the Third Age”, which is a wonderful opportunity for communication, new acquaintances, broadening of worldview, and also acquire new knowledge and opportunities of self-realization for aged people. One of the main goals of this project is to promote the social integration and adaptation of aged people in the society.

At “The University of the Third Age” there have been operating eight departments which provide an opportunity of wide choice of the very knowledge and skills which the aged person wants to receive for the realization of his or her inner potential.

For the full functioning of one of the departments – namely the innovative technologies – we need Your help! Nowadays very pressing issue is the creation of a computer classroom as this will facilitate communication with relatives and friends who live far outside the town, in the ATO zone or abroad and also for searching interesting information. Computer classroom will enable the mass involvement of elderly people to study, to acquire skills of working with PC and the Internet and also re-establishment of connection between generations. Besides that, the attendance of computer courses is an additional chance for aged people to meet and communicate in a casual atmosphere with people similar in spirits and interests.
