Kostia is in the 7th grade, loves to play football, spend time with friends. At first glance, he is an ordinary teenager. But it only seems that way. For two years now, the boy has been living with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus type I.
When this diagnosis was announced, the life of the boy and his family changed forever. Fear, confusion, new rules and daily challenges became their reality. Now every day is a clear regimen, weighing food, counting bread units... And daily insulin injections and constant sugar control with a glucometer – this is about 8-10 finger pricks every day. Over time, fingers become coarse, and even ordinary measurement becomes more and more painful.
When the boy first tried the continuous glucose monitoring system, his life changed. The pain from constant pricks is a thing of the past. Now he can see his sugar level just on his phone, react in time to dangerous conditions. Especially after physical exertion and activity, there may be a sharp drop in sugar.
"Now I have returned to my usual life. But diabetes is a daily struggle. Every minute I seem to work instead of my pancreas. And only with sensors can I live more calmly, not be afraid of sharp jumps in sugar and better control my condition," shares Kostia.
Sensors are not about convenience, but about the chance for a full life without constant pain and fear.
Support for Kostia is the opportunity to be a teenager: play football, make friends, enjoy life, and not think about the disease every minute.
