Droplets that save lives

Premature birth is a huge problem in our time, and none of the doctors can 100% predict the timing of a woman's delivery. This is compounded by enormous stress, shelling, occupation, and lack of access to timely diagnosis or care. Almost always, these births are unexpected, frightening with the uncertainty of the outcome and anxiety, as fears for the health of the baby, who will be born prematurely, come to the fore.

Modern methods of providing emergency care and nursing for children born at 26 to 28 weeks allow most children to survive. And improving emergency care in neonatology is the most important factor in reducing mortality and disability of newborns. However, it all depends not only on the professionalism of the team of doctors and nurses, but also on the availability of all the necessary medical and technical equipment. 

The main mission and goal of the NICU specialists is to save the baby's life with the least negative consequences for his or her health. Children with various perinatal pathologies are admitted to the NICU. They usually need artificial lung ventilation, parenteral nutrition, infusion therapy, correction and restoration of important body functions. Profoundly premature babies with low body weight are also transferred here, who often have severe health problems. 

At first glance, these units look like a spaceship, because each child has to be surrounded by many machines, and the baby lives in a transparent house (incubator) that protects him or her from noise and bright light. Children who cannot eat on their own are given nutrient solutions through a special probe. Also, if necessary, drugs are used to regulate heart rate, stimulate breathing, blood pressure, and ultrasound. These manipulations should be carried out according to a clearly defined scheme and with the correct dosage, because every extra or underdosed drop can be fatal. 

Infusion therapy is responsible for such correct and timely drops of nutrition and medication. It is considered to be one of the most important therapeutic measures in the care of premature babies, designed to solve a wide range of medical problems. None of the modern methods of intensive care and resuscitation can do without the use of infusion. 

Modern infusion therapy in many cases requires the administration of the drug for a long time in microdoses, which is technically impossible without infusion syringe pumps dispensers (infusomats) for infusion therapy. These are devices that allow you to accurately calculate the required dose and rate of drug administration, as well as protect against air entering the vein after the procedure. Without them, it is impossible to nurse a child. Now do you understand why each child can sometimes have more than one or two infusion machines during nursing? Our project is ambitious, but we have to help. Having raised the necessary amount, we will purchase and deliver two infusion machines to 5 Ukrainian hospitals from different parts of the country, which will help them save children's lives.
