Sofia is now 13 years old. She is growing up as a kind, sincere and purposeful child. She is in the 7th grade, diligent and responsible, loves studying very much and, like all her peers, dreams of a bright future. In addition to school, Sofia is engaged in judo – this sport helps her become stronger not only physically, but also morally, teaches endurance and struggle. And she has to fight every day...

Since the age of 5, Sofia has been living with a serious illness – type 1 diabetes. This is not just a disease – it is a lifestyle without days off and holidays. Every day is a constant monitoring of blood sugar levels, insulin injections, strict adherence to a diet and great responsibility, which is too adult for a child.

Now, in adolescence, the situation is complicated. Due to hormonal changes, sugar levels become unstable: even with proper nutrition and insulin administration, indicators can change dramatically. This is exhausting not only physically, but also emotionally – there is a fear of hypoglycemia, hyperglycemia, anxiety about every day and night. Diabetes is not only about insulin. It is about sleepless nights, constant checks, worries and a huge burden on the whole family.

The girl's parents do everything possible to ensure that Sofia lives a full life – studies, does what she loves, enjoys childhood. But, unfortunately, the treatment and control of diabetes require significant financial costs.

Modern means of control – monitoring sensors, consumables, insulin – significantly improve the quality of life and help avoid serious complications, but they are expensive for the family.
