Ksenia lives with her parents in the Shabo village, near Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi in Odesa region The girl is 15 years old, an excellent student, and plans to become an endocrinologist after school. Why did she make this choice? Because Ksenia has been living with type 1 diabetes for six years now. And she and her mother began to learn the skills of this profession from their own experience of living with an incurable disease.
The extent to which diabetes fills the entire space around a sick person can be seen in the example of this modest rural family. Even the business that Ksenia's parents are engaged in was caused by this disease. First, they learned how to raise quail to feed their child, and now they have turned it into a source of income for the family. Unfortunately, this income is still not enough to support Ksenia's treatment to the extent needed. The girl still uses a glucometer, and her fingers are pierced from constant blood sampling for testing. It is difficult to imagine how the fingers suffer, being pierced up to 10 times every day. That is why the girl needs sensors.
The disease has not conquered the child. Ksenia goes in for gymnastics, and in general, together with her parents, she leads an active physical lifestyle and diet. The girl is able to achieve her goals, but she needs a little help.
