The doctor needs help

74-year-old Oleksandr had been a family doctor in the village of Myshuryn Rih in the Dnipro region for over half a century. He saved others for decades, now he needs help himself.

For over 52 years, Oleksandr devoted his life to medicine. Working as a doctor in a village is different from working in a city. He did more than prescribe treatment – he listened, supported, and gave hope. People came to him for advice and help in their most difficult moments.

In June 2025, Oleksandr was diagnosed with cancer of the left lung with invasion into the mediastinum. He is currently undergoing complex treatment: classical chemotherapy and immunotherapy with the modern drug Tecentriq (Atezolizumab).

This drug helps the immune system recognize and attack cancer cells, reducing the risk of disease progression or recurrence. The treatment course with Tecentriq is administered once every three weeks, with a total of six courses prescribed for Oleksandr.

He completed the first course in March. The treatment is difficult. After chemotherapy, he suffers from weakness, nausea, and loss of appetite. Recently, Oleksandr underwent a brain MRI – fortunately, no metastases were found, but he had to be physically supported to get to the examination due to severe exhaustion.

His family is always by his side: his wife, two daughters, a grandson, a granddaughter, and two great-grandchildren. His loved ones are doing everything possible to help him return to an active life.

Before the illness, Oleksandr loved fishing. Quiet early morning hours by the water filled him with calm. The family strongly believes that he will once again greet the mornings with a fishing rod in his hands.

A single vial of Tecentriq is extremely expensive, and the family cannot afford to buy it on their own. Immediately after its purchase, Oleksandr will undergo the second course of treatment. Whether he will be able to continue immunotherapy depends on our support. Please support a person who has helped others all his life!
