Lola dreams of walking without pain

Do you remember the story of the Little Mermaid, whose every step caused her suffering? This is how eight-year-old Lola lives. She has a congenital malformation of the feet. In order for the girl to walk confidently, she needs surgery.

Lola and her older sister were left without parental care in early childhood. For some time they were outside the control of social services until they were noticed by officers of the Kharkiv Juvenile Police. And then fate brought the girls together with Iryna, who took the sisters under her guardianship.

Their first chance meeting took place in the summer of 2018. On that hot day, Iryna was walking through the train station and thinking about her daughter, whose life was taken by a fatal disease. She saw two girls dressed inappropriately for the weather, without adult supervision, and her heart sank.

Later, Iryna was told about a girl who was hospitalized with severe anemia and is there without the care of her relatives. The woman wanted to help her. It is impossible to describe Iryna's surprise and joy when she recognized a familiar face! In November 2019, Iryna took custody of Lola and her sister.

In 2020, Iryna's mother died of COVID-19. And in March 2022, city district Pivnichna Saltivka, where the family lived, was brutally bombed. The family first moved to a shelter near Dnipro, and then to Poland. In the fall of 2023, they returned to Ukraine.

Lola is in the 2nd grade. She loves animals, she has fish, a turtle, a cat and hamsters.

In October 2024, the girl began to rapidly lose her sight and hearing. Thanks to urgent treatment, her vision was restored to 50%. At the same time, Lola was diagnosed with bilateral hearing loss. This was probably caused by a disruption in the blood supply to the brain due to a vascular malformation.

Lola's legs hurt a lot, she has a congenital malformation of the feet. In order for the girl to be able to walk without pain, surgery is necessary. The operation is planned to be carried out in Uzhhorod in the medical center "Prevention".
