Artem is 12 years old. About seven years ago, he received a diagnosis that changed his whole life – type 1 diabetes.
It was a difficult period that began with a sudden change in his well-being: weakness, thirst, rapid weight loss, hospitalization, and, as a result, the shocking news – insulin-dependent diabetes. Since then, the family's life has been divided into "before" and "after". Artem grew up too early – daily insulin injections, dozens of finger pricks every day, constant tests, dietary restrictions. But despite all the difficulties, he is growing up to be an open, kind, active boy. He loves building with construction sets, is fascinated by mathematics, and dreams of becoming an engineer so that one day he can create a device that will help children living with diabetes.
Artem is now going through puberty. This is a very difficult time for any child, but for a child with diabetes, it is a double challenge. Hormonal changes cause sharp spikes in blood sugar, significantly increasing the need for insulin and continuous monitoring. This leads to constant stress, anxiety about health, and sleepless nights.
To monitor his glucose levels, Artem uses sensors that allow him to monitor his sugar levels 24/7 without painful finger pricks. Thanks to these sensors, his mother is able to respond to changes in time and avoid dangerous situations, especially at night. Unfortunately, these sensors need to be replaced regularly, and their cost is prohibitive for the family. Artem's mother is a civil servant with a low income. She is raising Artem on her own and cannot afford to provide her son with the necessary supplies for stable diabetes control, so she needs our help.
Any support is a step towards a stable and safe life for the boy. Help Artem live a full life, dream, develop, and learn without fear of illness.
