Daria Halaiba is a 3-year-old girl, one of twins, who has been fighting cerebral palsy (spastic diplegia) since early childhood. The tiny girl was born prematurely together with her sister and could not breathe independently, so for the first 5 days of her life a ventilator breathed for her, and later a CPAP device. Daria's condition then worsened, which led to her being transferred to intensive care. And after her condition stabilized, they were finally discharged home.

It seemed as though everything would settle down at home and life would follow its expected course, but the girls grew and developed differently: over time, their mother began to notice that Daria was falling behind her sister. At 7 months the girl could not hold her head up or roll over, and at 1 year and 3 months she was diagnosed with spastic diplegia.

Although Daria cannot yet walk independently, she patiently follows the recommendations of her rehabilitation specialists at home and attends sessions at specialized centers, which are bearing fruit.

"After completing rehabilitation, the child has developed more new words, and her attention and coordination have improved," says Daria's mother.

However, spasticity prevents the girl from moving freely, and she also has developmental and speech delays, which is why rehabilitation cannot be stopped. We urge all caring people to join the fundraiser for a new rehabilitation course for Daria, as she is very much waiting for our support.
