Damian. A boy with an unusual name. He is now 4 years old. Like all kids, she plays with toys, watches cartoons "Fixiki", "Pow patrol", "Mi-Mi-Mishki", loves music and dancing to her. And sculpt from plasticine. Damian is sick from birth. The boy has increased bleeding. Immediately after birth, the boy was given blood transfusions for three days. According to the result of the blood test, the erythrocytes and platelets in the newborn were "0". 

Doctors for a long time could not put Damian the correct diagnosis. Accordingly, the treatment was only symptomatic. And only when the mother and Damian went to a consultation with a hematologist in Belarus, observing the test results, the doctor saw a picture of a pronounced primary immunodeficiency. And she sent the child to an immunologist in Kiev, where the alleged diagnosis was confirmed.

Because of his diagnosis, Damian does not attend kindergarten. The mother her son, and tries not to go to crowded places. But, passing by the kindergarten, Damian each time asked his mother: "When will I go to kindergarten?". He reaches for the children, wants to play with them. The boy is active, interested in everything around. But, as soon as hemoglobin falls in the child’s blood, Damian feels bad and becomes capricious.

Damian has a very rare form of congenital immunodeficiency. Such a diagnosis is less common than one case per million children. The disease is manifested by severe purulent infections and bleeding, as a result of which the child needs prolonged hospitalizations, blood transfusions, and constant antibiotics. For 4 years of life, Damian had 5 episodes of pneumonia, brain abscess, necrosis of the skin. Because of hemorrhage in the eye, the child almost lost his sight. He needs to do an ophthalmologic operation. But because of the risk of bleeding, doctors fear and refuse.

Perhaps this will be the first case of transplantation from an unrelated donor, done in Ukraine. To do this, it is necessary to undergo a typing procedure on the compatibility of the donor and the recipient. This can be done in the Dresden laboratory in Germany. The cost of the procedure is 14,517 UAH. 
Damian is the second child in the family. His mother works as an administrator in a hotel. To the elder brother 19, he is a future cook and finishes a culinary school. Exhausted by the constant treatment of Damian, the family is not able to pay this bill.
