Vladyk is 19 years old, but he is as developmentally mature as a four-year-old boy. The boy has a severe form of autism, the first signs of which his mother began to notice when Vladyk was 2,5 years old: he did not respond to her, screamed, and harmed himself. But after the prescribed treatment, the child became even worse – he lost consciousness. Ambulance, resuscitation, fight for life...
And then – another terrible blow: the diagnosis – type 1 diabetes, severe form. It was the collapse of the usual life. Vlad's father could not stand it and filed for divorce. His mother was left alone. But she decided to fight because she realized that her son had only her. For years, she learned to count bread units, dose insulin, and control sugar. Constant hospitals, injections, tests, tears. At the same time, she was searching for a school for a child with autism, when no one was talking about inclusive education: "Send him to a boarding school". But mom did not give up. She found a school where Vladyk was given a chance.
For 10 years, she sat outside the classroom door every day to measure sugar and save her son at any time. Vladyk has learned to write, read, and become calmer – but he still cannot live independently. He needs to be fed, bathed, injected with insulin, and constantly monitored for sugar.
There is a solution – a glucose monitoring sensor that is attached to the body and transmits the readings to the phone. This will reduce pain, as there is no need to pierce your fingers dozens of times a day. Such a system is a dream for Vlad's mom. But its price is too high for a woman who has been carrying everything on her own for 19 years. They have gone through a lot of hardships during this time – help save the boy from pain and his mother from constant stress.
