Mykyta strives to be useful
17-year-old Mykyta has been undergoing treatment almost from the first days of his life. His mother's labor was difficult. The newborn Mykyta was immediately admitted to the intensive care unit with a diagnosis of Pierrot Ruben and a congenital cleft palate. But that was not all. Later, doctors discovered another visual impairment in the baby – high myopia. The boy underwent surgery on the palate and barely came out of anesthesia.
Unfortunately, these were not the last of Mykyta's health problems. When the boy turned 12, he began to have complications. Doctors diagnosed him with another serious illness – severe type 1 diabetes mellitus with a high risk for his life. Mykyta is still being treated for diabetes and its consequences. During this time, he was hospitalized seven times in the intensive care unit, and once fell into a coma after a sharp drop in blood sugar. These unfortunate incidents caused complications to Mykyta's internal organs and eyes.
Mykyta is in the 11th grade and is enrolled in an individualized school program. Mykyta has favorite hobbies. These are collecting Lego vehicles and creative drawing classes. Mykyta has also started collecting coins and banknotes from around the world. The boy helps his mother a lot with household chores and other tasks, despite his serious health condition. Mykyta himself helps people with disabilities.
It is extremely difficult for his mother to lift Mykyta to his feet. She herself has a group 1 visual disability and is blind. The boy needs help, and the family is not able to provide him with treatment.
