A place of communication for lonely old people. 2

A person does not have to live alone and not have a family to be alone. Loneliness can be hidden behind frequent ill-health, unwillingness to go out and meet other people. Loneliness as a lack of desire and energy for any communication is quite common, especially in old age. And when old age is added to emotional loneliness, most often a person does not come out of this abyss but burns down slowly like a forgotten candle. In order to solve the problem of loneliness and uselessness of older people, a day club "Second Youth" was created. He has been working since 2001 and has created within his walls a large and friendly "family" of lonely grandparents who need communication, care, and daily social and psychological support.

From the very beginning of its work, the Club functioned at the funds of a foreign donor, however, unfortunately, the grant program has ended since 2019. For the daily work of the Club, we need 23 077 UAH. per month to cover the cost of renting a room, utility bills, organizing tea parties, etc. For one person, this may be a large amount, but for a few, it is already much less! What gives the Club to our grandparents? They have the opportunity to meet regularly, celebrate holidays and memorable dates together, engage in creative work, needlework, sing and actively spend their leisure time. Over the years, many of them have become family, people who support each other in joy, in grief, and help to cope with diseases and problems. Most of all, the grandparents who visit the club want it to work on and give them warmth, a sense of being needed and the most precious thing – is the luxury of human communication! Indeed, it is communication that gives them the opportunity, strength, and desire to live!

"We are gathering here a generation of attentive, caring people, people of our time, which is very different from the modern one. We are united here by "that" time, the time of our youth, of our victories and achievements, of our joys and sorrows, and only thanks to the Club we continue to live in it, in those emotions and feelings! And this is very important for us", says Alla Petrovna.

"I love the club very much. 19 years I am in the Club! Thanks to it, I live, I cannot live without it. Here I communicate with friends, do creative work, needlework, we go on excursions. Here you can talk, share problems, get help!", says Lidia Grigoryevna.
