Disease history of Kira Kovaleva is such long as her life: 6 years. In the day the baby was born, she has got a diagnosis: spina bifida or meningocele. The growth on the loins didn’t ail the girl but afterwards it could have dire consequences, down to palsy. The surgery has corrected the problem with meningocele and gave the new ones: enuresis and encopresis. Kira is very spry and sociable girl, but school headmaster proposes her private tuition only. The Israeli clinik Assuta promises to cope with Kira’s trouble.

Spina bifida is such defect of nerve tube of spinal column when medullary substance comes out as a follicle. It is necessary to operate meningocele: at first the baby with it grows like the other children, but then flaccid paralysis and myatrophy develop.

Unfortunately, surgical removing of meningocele in Ukraine frequently causes new symptoms. That has happened with Kira. After operation, performed at 3 months in Dnipropetrovsk, adipoma has appeared again. The second surgery was done at 2 years old in Kyiv in Institute of neurosurgery n.a. Romodanov. The problem of adipoma was solved, but the child completely stopped to control bowel and bladder functions. The surgeon’s knife hurt the nerve roots which are responsible for these functions. To rectify an error the new operation is needed. Performing of it in Ukraine is risk to get greater problems.

Recently the new frighten symptom has appeared – supertension in the leg. Kira puts her foot on the heel, her fingers are always strained.

Otherwise the girl is healthy. She likes to draw, to make applique works, to learn poems by heart with great relish. Kira adores her friends from the nursery and doesn’t know that she was taken there just by virtue of her mother has got a job of nurse in it. But in school they agree to take Kira only for homeschooling.

The active and sociable girl will be deprived of communion with the other children because of failed operation performed 4 years ago! Even though Kira attends school, neither knows what mental problems in relationship with the other people it will brings afterwards.

The doctors of Israeli Assuta-hospital promise to release girl fully from enuresis and encopresis. Children’s neurosurgeon Shimon Rochkind has a great experience of such operations with free outcome. But the cost of clinic services is huge for Kira’s mother – 40 500 $. Nobody could find such founds singly, but we can do it together! Please, support Kira!

The Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace collects 500 000 UAH on payment of transaction in the Israeli clinic of "Assuta".
