At one of the food distributions for homeless people, a man of about 35 approached us and asked for help with warm clothing — he needed pants and warm gloves. Along with the food, we gave him insulated pants and gloves. At the next distribution, the same man came up to us and said: "You see, I didn’t sell the clothes you gave me, and I didn’t disappear either – I even found a job this week! Now I work as a janitor. Thank you!". This is just one of dozens of stories that show how often a person needs very little to start changing their life: a meal and clean, weather-appropriate clothing.

Problem: every year, with the onset of the cold season, homeless people find themselves on the edge of survival. Last year, it was the lockdown; this year – the threat of missile attacks, power outages, and hunger. Now, as the cold season arrives, there is a real danger of a sharp increase in mortality among homeless people due to the constant lack of food and the growing difficulty of accessing it. This poses a direct threat to their lives and health.

Solution: to launch the #well-fed 2025 campaign aimed at fundraising for emergency local assistance to homeless people on the brink of survival. The funds raised will be used to purchase 1,180 hot meals for homeless individuals in Kyiv, which we will distribute over two and a half months.

The cost of one meal for a homeless person is 120 UAH. Each meal will include dishes such as kharcho or pea soup, potatoes with meat or buckwheat with a cutlet, salad, and bread. The cost also covers the work of the cook, confectioner, and individual packaging. The total cost of the project, including transportation and banking expenses, amounts to 211 880,00 UAH.

Meal distributions will take place in Kyiv – in the Podil district. Volunteers will assist with food distribution on-site and ensure compliance with safety regulations during air raid alerts. Each stage of the project will involve the project leader and a project manager.

Our goal is to feed 1,180 homeless people over 2.5 months. Through this project, we aim to partially meet the basic need for food among homeless individuals during the cold season, thereby reducing mortality rates among them.

NGO "Stormy Life" is a charitable organization that has been addressing the needs of homeless people since 2019. Our mission is to design an effective process for the reintegration of homeless individuals into society, identify means of assistance to help restore their social functions, and meet their basic humanitarian needs. In partnership with a charity clothing store and local food establishments, we organize systematic food distributions and provide humanitarian aid to homeless people in Kyiv.

In addition, our organization provides targeted reintegration support – helping homeless individuals restore their documents and find employment.

Thanks to philanthropists and our subscribers, we are completely closing the project with funds from our reserve fund: https://dobro.ua/reserve_fund/suka_zhizn_2020.
