Feed a cat

Cats’ shelter of the Kyiv Society for the Protection of Animals is asking for help to provide quality food for their little furry friends. Due to full and proper nutrition cats will be healthier, and it will help them to find a new home faster. A proper diet will reduce diseases of cats which come from the low-quality food. In addition, it will enable to cut down costs on medicine.

Everything is simple here, no luxury. The Shelter, created in 2000 on the basis of an abandoned cow barn, has kept the exterior of every day life of a Ukrainian village due to the lack of funds and absence of utilities (the Shelter is located far from the city). Firewood is used for heating and food preparation here. Today, the Shelter houses approximately two hundred cats. These small creatures are victims of human indifference, and, oftentimes, cruelty. The city of three million inhabitants threw them out like useless garbage and does not wish to atone for its sin.

Strict frugality is the rule here, because, as life shows, expectations of significant help are usually pointless. Besides food for the animals, there are expenses for electricity, water, fuel, timely salary for the workers, veterinary payments, etc. Of course, the cats in the shelter do not starve, but is also impossible talk about some procurement of quality feed. We often use cheap feed or outdated food from market. Cats, which live in a shelter, are usually elderly or sick and proper nutrition is crucial for them. It would help them to restore the immune system, avoid health problems and get a chance to find a family. It's so rare when people take home a sick animal!

Unfortunately, the Kyiv Society for the Protection of Animals does not have enough funds to buy expensive quality food for animals, which would be an important part of the rehabilitation of our cats.
