Mykhailo came into this world prematurely and in very serious condition – he had suffered a brain hemorrhage. His biological family abandoned him before they even had a chance to give him a name. However, from the very beginning, the boy showed an incredible desire to live. He was taken to OKHMATDIT, where he underwent a complex operation, had a shunt installed, and began treatment. Later, the baby got a new family and a name – Mykhailo.
The immense love and care of his family can work wonders: despite the fact that hydrocephalus caused serious damage to the boy's brain, he not only survived but also learned to roll over, sit, crawl, and even stand up. Mykhailo's strength and thirst for life impresses everyone who learns about his story.
Now the boy is 3 years old, and he is already beginning to pronounce individual words and phrases and wants to explore the world.
"Mykhailo is already confidently maintaining his balance and walking on flat surfaces, mastering new skills such as drinking from a cup and a straw, taking apart and putting together toys, responding to our requests and being able to carry them out (”sit down," “hold on,” “crawl to me,” “no,” “feed dad,” and others). We are also seeing an increase in the amount of time our son spends playing independently with toys and water," says the boy's mother.
However, he is not yet fully recovered: Mykhailo still has significant weakness in his left leg (his foot sags), which makes his gait unsteady at times. He also has difficulty understanding language, which complicates his communication with the outside world and his learning. Therefore, we are starting a fundraiser so that the boy can continue his rehabilitation. Please join us!
