The wonderful girl in the photo is 13-year-old Mariika, who has been living with cerebral palsy since early childhood. Every new rehabilitation brings her new small personal victories, which is why treatment must continue – and that is why we are launching a fundraiser for a new rehabilitation course, to give Mariika the chance to keep moving forward.

The girl was born weighing less than one kilogram. She was not breathing and was immediately admitted to intensive care, followed by long months at Okhmatdyt. When Mariika turned one year old, she was diagnosed with cerebral palsy.

Much time has passed since then. The girl worked hard, attended rehabilitation centers, swam, worked with specialists, and moved forward with determination. And this could not fail to show in her condition: at 3 years old she took her first steps, and at 9 years old she received a second junior category in swimming.

Mariika is 13 years old today. It is already easier for her to move around and perform exercises, her walking has improved and her spasticity has decreased, and her pain has reduced significantly. Her legs have become more supple and her movements more confident and coordinated. All of this is thanks to systematic treatment and the girl's own determination. A new rehabilitation course awaits Mariika ahead, and so we ask all caring people to join the fundraiser and help her keep moving forward!
