Little Maksym was an active, cheerful boy. But suddenly his mother began to notice that he was drinking a lot, going to the toilet more often, losing weight quickly, and losing strength. Although her mind told her that her son simply had a virus or was overtired, something told her that it was something more serious. At the hospital, her maternal intuition was confirmed—four-year-old Maksym was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
The first few months were extremely difficult. The family had to learn to live in a new way: measuring sugar levels several times a day, giving insulin injections, counting bread units, and monitoring the slightest changes in Maksym's well-being. At night, his mother would wake up to check his glucose levels, unable to shake her fear of hypoglycemia. But over time, they began to cope.
Today, Maksym is 16 years old. He is a strong, intelligent, responsible young man. He monitors his own blood sugar, gives himself injections, understands his body, and does not allow his illness to stop him from pursuing his dreams.
Yes, diabetes is a daily struggle. It involves measuring blood sugar every day, adjusting insulin doses, physical activity, and nutrition. Every little detail is of infinite importance. But the boy has learned to live with it. Not just to exist, not to fight constantly, but to live.
Maksym dreams, plans, studies, and develops. And everyone who knows him will confidently say that he can do anything. But for this, he needs your help, in particular with continuous glucose monitoring sensors.
