Roman's unhappy childhood

The day that divided Roman and his parents' lives into before and after. December 1, Friday. After seeing the results of the tests, where the level of sugar and acetone in their child was too high, they immediately arrived at the hospital. The doctors' diagnosis sounded like a verdict: diabetes mellitus, insulin-dependent. Mom could not come to her senses for a long time. She could not believe it. She hoped that somehow it would get better. But, unfortunately, this did not happen. Roma was discharged from the hospital with insulin pens and a glucometer.

Now his parents understand that this is a way of life, and they have to learn to live with it. And so they did. However, Roma is only 7 years old, and all his fingers, hands, feet, and stomach are already affected. The kid loves going to school, he studies well, he seems to be an ordinary child. But almost every day his classmates treat him to sweets, and the boy brings them home. And his mother can't look at those tiny cookies without crying, which the child is afraid to eat. She knows that without insulin, his blood sugar will rise quickly.

Roma says that he wants to become a doctor to treat people so that they can understand their illness more easily and, of course, he dreams of inventing a cure for diabetes.

Modern sensors that transmit data on sugar levels without piercing fingers and keep constant monitoring are not always available to Roma's parents. From time to time, they buy them to give the kid's fingers a rest. It is very convenient, because all the readings are sent to the mother's phone, and she sees when the sugar starts to fall or rises rapidly. The only problem is the cost of the sensors. The family cannot provide Roma with these devices all the time, so they ask for support.
