For over 2 years now, Roman has been facing the challenges of diabetes every single day. Just one day forced the family to change everything – their habits, plans, thoughts, and dreams. Since then, everyone has had one single wish and dream – for Romchyk to get better. But his parents understand: to protect their son and his health, they must learn to live with this.
Romchyk goes to school with joy. He already knows his routine and understands the necessity of daily insulin injections and constant blood sugar monitoring.
"Roma, does it hurt?", his classmates ask when they see him having his blood sugar measured or receiving another dose of insulin. And although Roma denies it, his parents know that sometimes it hurts him very much – but he endures it.
To ease the pain a little, his tiny, fragile fingers – pricked hundreds of times – are pricked in rotation: thumb, index finger, middle finger – giving each at least a brief rest to recover.
From time to time his parents use continuous blood glucose monitoring sensors to give his little fingers at least some chance to heal. But sensors are expensive, and the family cannot buy them continuously.
Together we can give Romchyk more pain-free days. We would be very grateful if you are able to help provide the boy with sensors.
