In case of significant immaturity of the vital systems of premature born babies (for example if the child cannot breathe on its own) they are transferred to the children's reanimation department. Here babies stay in special incubators, covered with transparent caps with four holes – two on each side (for therapeutic manipulation).

All incubators have the apparatuses of artificial lungs ventilation installed. With the help of many tubes and wires connected to baby monitors, droppers and other devices, controlling his pulse, temperature and breathing regularly conducting blood tests, as well as introducing the necessary medication, and performs many other important functions. If the figures recorded by these devices dangerously deviate from the norm, we hear the alarm.

To control the breating of preemies, sensors of airflow are used. Their main task is to analyze the incoming air. The sensor measures the amount of flow, then the respirator microprocessor converts this figure to estimate the amount of exhaled tiny light prematurely born baby's air. The latter should correspond to the volume set by a doctor on a respirator panel and blown into the lungs of the patient little. The main purpose is control pressure sensor of this parameter in the airways of the baby to prevent barotrauma and air leaks.

Using two types of sensors provides the necessary sound and lighting alarm systems for non-compliance of the respirator and the actual parameters of the small patient ventilation. Sensors respirator provides the information necessary for the operation of sound and light alarms.

It is therefore important that each ventilator was a flow sensor in order to prevent barotrauma and control small patient readiness for spontaneous breathing.
