Nikol recently turned 10. She has been living her years very brightly – she is an excellent student, is good at math, draws, swims, edits videos and animates. This is the first small anniversary in her already difficult life. Her path has always been full of obstacles, but she courageously overcame each of them. When she was still very young, she had to wear orthoses to correct her hallux valgus – and she managed to do it all. Now she wears plates to dazzle everyone around her with her smile. She has glasses and dreams of vision correction in the future. The family looks at everything that can be fixed with irresistible optimism – they say, "We will fix it!".
But the family has encountered something that cannot be overcome or fixed – Nikol has had type 1 diabetes for the third year. At first, the diagnosis sounded like a sentence. But now, the family is learning to live with it step by step. Not like everyone else, in their own pace and regime, but this child's life can and will definitely be incredible.
Continuous glucose monitoring sensors – devices that closely monitor glucose and report any fluctuations – help a lot with this. Unfortunately, they cost a lot, and a child needs them on a constant basis. This is the only opportunity to be, live and develop. Give Nikol a helping hand!
