Mirochka is a cheerful, active, and lively daughter to her parents. She is the only child in a young family. Her arrival brought joy to the whole family. Everything was fine until she turned 4. Mirochka started going to preschool, but over time, her mother began to notice that something was wrong with the little girl. She looked gaunt, had lost weight, became moody, and often complained of pain in her legs; she rested more and ran less. She also asked for drinks frequently and visited the bathroom often. At the New Year’s celebration, when all the children were performing and dancing beautifully, Mira was sad. Her grandmother, who works at the hospital, was concerned about her granddaughter’s condition and advised checking the child’s blood sugar level. The next day, a fasting test showed a very high blood sugar level – they called the hospital, and they were told to bring the child in immediately.
And then came the horror. The ICU, blood draws every hour, IVs, tests, and a devastating diagnosis – type 1 diabetes. Incurable, requiring lifelong insulin injections. Shock and despair; life was turned upside down.
Mirochka has to wear sensors on her body constantly to monitor her glucose levels; without them, life is unthinkable. And at this age, blood sugar is very unstable, with sharp fluctuations. At least two sensors are needed per month, but the price is too high. This takes up a significant portion of the family’s budget. Her mother doesn’t work because the child is still young and needs to be watched constantly to monitor her readings. Her mother is asking for help – to get sensors for her daughter.
