A new life during the war
At the beginning of the full-scale invasion in the spring of 2022, women fleeing the military aggression of the Russian Federation and fleeing the contact line found shelter in the Zaporizhia Maternity Hospital №9. In 2022-2023, almost 1,500 births were accepted in the hospital, approximately 50% of the women were internally displaced persons. To this day, the medical staff of the institution cares about mothers and their babies, providing qualified services, helping new Ukrainians to come into this world. The hospital also has a shelter with an operating room, and often during shelling, women have to give birth there.
Unfortunately, the facility is not equipped with all the necessary medical equipment, so the goal of this project is to purchase and transfer quality equipment to create safe and dignified conditions for mothers and their babies.
We thank everyone who has already supported this project, and we have already been able to purchase a biochemical analyzer for the institution, thanks to the contributions of donors! We continue to collect funds and call on you to make your donation to the following equipment:
- hematological automatic analyzer, it is used to study quantitative and qualitative indicators of blood. There is no analyzer here at all, doctors work with manual methods, which is very difficult and inconvenient;
- centrifuge. It is used in blood services, diagnostic laboratories, and medical institutions for the preparation of donor blood components, clinical diagnostics, and the plasmapheresis procedure (purification of the patient's blood). This equipment is also not available. Additional equipment for the full operation of the centrifuge is a rotor and a plasma separator;
- a rotor intended for equipping a medical centrifuge during the separation of heterogeneous liquid systems;
- plasma separator – an electromechanical device that easily separates blood components into red cells and plasma.
All this equipment is basic and necessary during childbirth and for diagnosing the condition of patients.
Zaporizhzhia suffers from constant shelling, but despite the war and grief, Ukrainians continue to create a new life. Today, in conditions of high mortality and constant danger, we must promote the work of neonatal and perinatal institutions and create the most comfortable conditions for women in labor, where quality and professional services will be provided.
*Full name of the institution: KNP "Maternity House №9" of Zaporizhzhia City Council.
