Meals for children from crisis families

Smiling children on the photo are happy and feel safe. Nothing tells about their sad life stories. Just the kindergarten staff know that a deceased father of small Valya was drug addict, and a mother that's sick with AIDS overcame deep depression and devoted herself to her daughter. Galia's mother has mental disorders and can not get fixed up in a job and there is no food at home. Igor’s both parents are alcoholics and they do not take care about their three children.

Crisis Center "Street children" of "Caritas Lviv" exists for those children, who could not be accepted into state running kindergartens because of problems with papers, health conditions, behavioral disorders, parents’ irresponsibility. The center provides care for the preschool age children and gives advises and edifies their parents. During participation in the project families have possibilities to get out of crisis and to find a place for the child in ordinary kindergarten and school. Due to intense work of the staff the children improve the physical and psychological condition, parents become more responsible, thus 70% families were saved.

"Caritas" is searching the possibilities to finance the center. The city council fulfills maintenance of the building. Staff salaries are covered by international donors. To cover necessary food for children is rather difficult. The amount for 6 months necessary for 15 children is more than 30 000 UAH. We believe that Ukrainians are able to feed their children themselves. For 15 UAH 90 kop – amount that many people spend for coffee in a cafe – Caritas can buy food for three time meals for a child in the kindergarten.

We raise money for food for 15 children for 6 months of 2015.
